The Custom Jewelry Design Journey: From Sketch to Sparkle

Bringing a custom piece of jewelry to life is a beautiful blend of ancient artistry and cutting-edge modern technology. Whether you have a flawless vision or just a spark of an idea, here is exactly how your dream piece transforms from a concept into a breathtaking, wearable reality.

Step 1: The Initial Consultation & Stone Sourcing
Every masterpiece begins with a personalized conversation. During your initial consultation, we will map out your vision, explore design directions, and provide you with an in-depth Diamond and Gemstone Education to ensure you shop with total confidence. 
  • Have a Reference Photo? We can work directly from your inspiration images, rough sketches, or saved photos to replicate details you love. 
  • Starting from Scratch? If you aren’t sure what style fits you, we will work one-on-one to discover your aesthetic. 
  • The Perfect Gemstone: At this stage, we will also source the perfect certified diamond or colored gemstone for your piece—or prepare a family heirloom gem that you already own.
Step 2: 3D CAD Modeling & Digital Revisions
Once the design concept is locked in, our designers translate the ideas into a precise digital blueprint using advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
“This digital rendering shows the structure, proportions, and details of your piece, giving you a clear picture of how it will look.” 

  • Because nothing is set in stone yet, this 3D visual makes it incredibly easy to tweak proportions, adjust stone placements, or make any structural alterations until it feels exactly right.
Step 3: 3D Wax Printing & The Physical Try-On
After you approve the digital renderings, we move from the screen to the physical world. Using advanced Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) 3D printers, we "grow" a high-resolution, exact resin-wax replica of your jewelry piece.
“Using a 3D printer, we create a physical wax model of your piece that you can see and try on.” 

  • Trying on the physical wax model allows you to perfectly visualize the real-world scale, height, and comfort of the finished product on your body before production begins.
Step 4: Lost-Wax Casting, Setting, & Hand-Polishing
Once you give the final stamp of approval on the wax prototype, your design enters the master workshop for production:
  • The Metal Casting: Using the time-honored "lost-wax" casting method, your wax model is encased in a mold and incinerated as molten precious metal (Gold or Platinum) is poured in to take its exact shape. 
  • Precision Stone Setting: Once the raw metal framework cools, our master bench jewelers delicately hand-set each diamond and gemstone under a microscope, securing every prong, bezel, and channel with extreme durability. 
  • Final Polish & Finishing: The raw casting initially looks dull. Our team takes it through rigorous stages of filing, sanding, and high-speed polishing to bring out its stunning, mirror-like luster.
Timeline: What to Expect
The journey from start to finish generally takes anywhere from 10 days to a month. The exact timeline depends directly on the unique nature, detail, and complexity of your custom request.
